How is the splint used after septoplasty?

Internal and external nasal splints

The nasal splints are put in place by your surgeon immediately after surgery. The internal splint sits inside the nose to stabilise the septum and hold it in the correct position during healing. It also helps to reduce swelling and prevent bleeding

The external splint is placed on the outside of the nose to support the structure of the nose and protect it while it heals. It is used more often if the operation has involved adjustments to the external shape of the nose.
