Motiva is a breast implant brand developed with an emphasis on softer feel, natural movement, and traceability. It is used by several practices in the Adoreal network, including for tissue-preserving augmentation and minimally invasive techniques.

What are Motiva implants?

Motiva implants are silicone breast implants designed with a smooth surface and a gel formulation intended to move more like natural breast tissue. Each implant carries an identification code, supporting traceability over the long term.

As with any implant, the brand is one part of the decision. Size, profile, placement, and surgical technique matter at least as much to your result.

Where Motiva fits

The treatment, step by step

01. Consultation. Measurement, examination, and discussion of implant options. Sizers or 3D imaging may be used to help you visualize proportion.

02. Preparations. Medical evaluation, medication adjustments, stopping smoking, and arranging support at home for the first weeks.

03. Anesthesia. Usually general anesthesia. Minimally invasive techniques such as Mia Femtech can be performed under local anesthesia or sedation.

04. Incision and placement. Through an inframammary, periareolar, or in some techniques a small axillary incision, the implant is positioned in the plane agreed at consultation.

05. Documentation. The implant identification details are recorded in your notes, and in a registry where one operates in your country.

06. Closing. Incisions are closed to minimize scarring, and support dressings or a surgical bra are fitted.

Recovery and aftercare

Recovery follows the same pattern as any breast augmentation, with soreness and swelling settling over the first weeks. Minimally invasive techniques generally allow a faster return to activity.

Risks and long-term considerations

Motiva implants carry the risks common to all breast implants, and the same long-term considerations:

Capsular contracture, where scar tissue around the implant tightens and changes shape or comfort.

Rupture or leakage, uncommon, and monitored through follow-up and imaging.

Rippling or palpability, more likely where natural tissue cover is thin.

Changes in nipple or breast sensation, often temporary.

Need for revision, since implants are not lifetime devices and may eventually need exchange or removal.

Infection, bleeding, or reaction to anesthesia, as with any surgery.

What the published data says about capsular contracture

Independent series report comparatively low capsular-contracture rates with Motiva's smooth, nanotextured SilkSurface shell: a 2025 cohort of 801 women found capsular contracture in 1.79% of Motiva Ergonomix cases, versus 3.6%–10.5% for several other implant brands compared in the same study, and a 2018 series of 5,813 augmentations recorded no primary capsular contracture at 3 years.

These are retrospective, non-randomized studies rather than head-to-head trials, and the FDA's own 5-year pivotal data still lists capsular contracture as a driver of reoperation (8.8% of primary and 36% of revisional augmentation patients required reoperation for any reason by year five). Ask your surgeon how this published evidence applies to your specific anatomy, rather than reading any single figure as a fixed outcome.
